On the third Sunday in October, a feast mood reigned in our village again and from the early morning hours the village square and its surroundings began to fill with various stalls offering many kinds of goods.
This year we have taken a slightly different approach to the fair and made a few changes. A handicraft centre was set aside and only vendors with traditional products were allowed to enter. Two woodcarvers, who showed their skills throughout the day, also visited our village and their sculptures will decorate our village square. Artistic blacksmiths from Jarcova also made Saturday's feast more interesting with demonstrations of their mastery of their trade.
The house U Zubíčků enjoyed great interest. Here the spirit of Wallachian traditions was in full swing. Everyone who visited the house could try out feather scrubbing, see the making of fujaras and tailpieces, Welsh embroidered baskets and also taste traditional potato pancakes baked on the stove. The competition for the best sausage had a new look.
The whole day was accompanied by brass music Miklovci, grilled hams, kyselica, goulash and other specialties were provided by our firefighters, hunters and parents' club at the kindergarten.
Thanks to a greater focus on traditions and customs in Wallachia, the Ratibořský fair got a new touch, people did not come just to shop, but could see crafts that are already forgotten, products that were once common and today hardly appear on any market, and also had the opportunity to meet, chat and experience the pleasant atmosphere of Ratiboř feasts.
