Running over five Kunovice peaks and the "Run the forests" race in Lednice

K5 - run over five Kunovice peaks (12 June 2020)

We successfully opened the Dtb series on Friday 12th June with the first race, a run over five Kunovice peaks, K5. This time I did not go alone, but our race team consisted of four runners. Veronika Benschová, Dan Krejčíř, Peta Mynařík and me. Already when we were descending through Lasy to Loučka, it looked like we would not be able to avoid the rain, but the euphoria of a great race did not leave us. In the end, there was no rain and at 6 p.m. around 200 competitors of all ages ran out of the start and onto the 5 and 11 km long course. The race route was traditionally perfectly prepared. It was great and gave us a good workout :), but that's why we went :). The racers, organizers and the people of Loučka and Kunovice were amazing. I know I am using only superlatives, but it is true. This race is like that :). But we mustn't rest on our laurels (although there were none), on July 18th we have a mini-duathlon (run-bike-run), the second race of the series - so hooray for training.

Will you come with us? There's a race for kids too. From the little ones on the bikes to the teenagers. All you have to do is register, train and don't pass out :). And if the word race scares you, don't worry about it. Trust that whoever finishes the race is the winner.

Run the Woods Lednice (20 June 2020)

The Lednice race was the second in the "Run the Woods" series of races and on their website they state that it is the easiest.

It is quite possible that this year's race will be described as the muddiest of them all :). There were four of us again: Dan Krejcir, Petya Mynarik, his sister Jana and me. Last year, Dan and I went for the whole weekend with our families and our kids raced as well, but this year I couldn't imagine it at all, even though there were kids runs. The course and the facilities for the start and finish were one big muddy mess, and with restrictions due to coronavirus.

The main race starts were 500 runners every hour. Since Dan and Petya were going for the 22 km route and Jana and I for the 13 km, we started at 10 am, when the start of both routes was common. By 10 o'clock the water was no longer streaming, but still the rain accompanied us the whole time. The water from above didn't bother us as much as the water from below. It wasn't cold, and it was good to run in the rain, but the mud on the trail was unpleasant, slippery and squelchy. Runners were literally running head to toe in mud. Anyway, it was a great experience, the course was nice and we won't soon forget it. :)

As soon as we met in the finish area, it was necessary to do internal disinfection against coronavirus and flu, which was provided by Petya Mynarek with his first aid kit. Then it was dry, a stop for a good lunch and home.
