On Thursday 12 December, our school's recreation room was transformed into a unique place of personal quiet - an Oasis of Peace.
Pupils of each class could visit different stations offering space for reflection, relaxation and personal development. One of the activities, for example, was a "gratitude tree" where children had the opportunity to express in writing what they were grateful for in their lives. At another station, they tasted a piece of salted caramel, symbolically representing the bittersweetness of life. Another interesting activity was throwing a 'forgiveness stone' into the water, which helped the children to reflect on the theme of forgiveness. The children went on to work on a cooperative painting, quiet themselves in a tent with soundproof headphones and tried many other activities.
The Oasis of Peace provides a safe and welcoming environment for students to reflect in peace on important life issues such as self-identity, courage, justice and gratitude. Through creative and interactive activities, children also have the opportunity to discover the spiritual dimension of life and to explore their personal questions. This project contributes to the mental well-being of our pupils and provides a space for personal growth in a friendly and understanding environment.
