The last Saturday in May was our popular "Goulash King Festival 2016".
This year's edition was preceded by a huge interest of the competitors. In mid-May, 24 participants + one alternate were registered. Eventually the number settled down to 21 competing teams. The teams started to prepare the goulash and the area slowly began to fill with a delicious aroma.
After 8 o'clock it also started to get busy at the start of the spring march. A total of 438 tourists, including guests from Povazska Teplá, set off on the march. Two routes were prepared. A shorter 8-kilometre route for families with strollers and a longer 23-kilometre route with a view from the Maruška lookout tower in Hošťálková.
During the morning, the Slepenica dulcimer music started to play for listening and the competitors were slowly preparing to take samples for the tasting committee composed of. Viera Jelinek, Mgr. Miroslav Jelinek, PhDr. Vojtěch Zubíček, Martin Žabčík, Bc. Jiřina Sklenská, PhDr. Miroslava Vaculíková, Ing. Michal Zubíček, Mr. Koňařík (editor from Jalovec), Milan Katovský, Ing. Zlata Rožnovjáková, Jozefína Cingelová and Milan Vrba. At the stroke of noon everything was cooked and the evaluation committee started its work. It was not an easy decision, because most of the goulashes were cooked very well and many of them deserved the award.
But every competition must have its winner, and so it was with us. The best goulash was cooked by a couple from Horní Bečva - Mr. Zdeněk Vojkůvka and Mr. Ondřej Červený.

After the award ceremony, the afternoon programme started in full swing. Bartenders Zlín performed with their freestyle show. After them, the children from the Kosáček ensemble filled the dance floor and were a great success with the audience. This was followed by a fencing performance by the Valmont group. Throughout the afternoon, the goulash from the competitors was sold briskly. The whole event ended with entertainment by the Kosovci group.
I want to thank all the organizers who participated in the preparation of the event. They are mainly our municipal employees, firefighters and sportsmen. The whole area was prepared in a very practical way so that we could handle the onslaught of visitors. The new tents that the municipality acquired last year were also very useful.
