The illuminated crossing increases the visibility of pedestrians at the crossing. However, just after the crossing, outside the light cone, the pedestrian may become invisible to the driver - the driver's eyes adapt to the illuminated part and thus cannot distinguish the first metres in the dark behind the crossing.

Therefore, continue to cross the road at night with the utmost caution and preferably only on the illuminated crossing, not just in front of or behind it!
