Ratiboř

On Thursday, May 21, we hosted a dissemination event in Ratiboř for the BE READY project (project number: DRP0200793), which focuses on the adaptation of cities and municipalities to climate change, urban heat islands, and drought. The event was organized in collaboration with our project partners, the DEX Innovation Centre and JINAG – the South Moravian Agency for Public Innovation.

We presented our journey from microclimate measurement, citizen engagement, and the development of an action plan to the concrete implementation—a bioclimatic bus stop that helps cool public spaces and enhance residents’ comfort. A key part of the program was a hands-on demonstration on-site, during which a representative from the contractor Fairteco explained how the solution works, its technical specifications, and operational experiences. Participants thus had the opportunity to learn in detail how such measures could be implemented in other municipalities.

Event participants also visited the local information center, where they learned about the operation of the first AI mayor in the Czech Republic—a digital twin of the mayor who helps citizens navigate information about the municipality and simplifies communication with the local government.

We are very pleased that mayors and municipal representatives from the South Moravian Region also visited our municipality, as the impacts of extreme heat and drought are felt even more intensely there. This made the sharing of experiences, inspiration, and concrete solutions—which can also help other local governments—all the more valuable.

The program also included examples of best practices from the Czech Republic and abroad, financing options for adaptation measures, and an open discussion on how to make our municipalities more resilient and livable.
