Outbreak of Newcastle disease in the town of Vsetín and surrounding area
The State Veterinary Administration has confirmed an outbreak of Newcastle disease in the town of Vsetín and surrounding area.
Pseudomorbus in poultry is a highly contagious viral disease affecting birds, particularly chickens, turkeys, pigeons, and other poultry species. The disease manifests itself in breathing difficulties, nervous symptoms, and a decline in egg production, and can lead to high mortality rates.
In accordance with current legislation, protection and surveillance zones have been established and extraordinary veterinary measures have been taken to prevent further spread of the disease. Poultry farmers are required to: immediately report suspicious deaths or changes in the health status of poultry, restrict the movement of poultry and other birds, comply with the established biosecurity measures.
The disease is not normally dangerous to humans, but it is recommended to follow basic hygiene rules when handling poultry.
We ask breeders and the public to cooperate in complying with the measures issued. Current information is available on the official notice board and website of the State Veterinary Administration.
