Water retention in the landscape is becoming one of the important measures that help the area...
In our mountainous region, these retention measures are all the more necessary. Rainwater drains away from the area very quickly. This needs to be prevented gradually. We have managed to implement one such measure in the Kobelná Valley. A new pool with a total area of more than 300 m2 and a depth of 1.5 m was built above a material dump near the Kobelanka stream. This is a nature-friendly measure designed to retain rainwater and prevent it from draining quickly from the site. The pool should become part of the forest ecosystem and should gradually be inhabited by aquatic and wetland animals.
The entire project was implemented in cooperation with the Agency for Nature and Landscape Protection, and the municipality received a grant of CZK 136,000 for its construction. The amount was sufficient to carry out the work, and the support was therefore 100%. The implementation itself is not difficult, as it does not require a building permit, and the material extracted during construction is used for landscaping around the pond.
We want to continue this activity and build more ponds on forest land. However, it is difficult to find locations where so-called sky ponds can be built.
