Last year, management in the forest properties of the Municipality of Ratiboř was already without the immediate threat of bark beetle calamity
The volumes of individual activities carried out in 2021 are shown in the Summary annual report of cultivation and mining works, which is part of this report. Area of land The area of land designated for forest functions (PUPFL) in the ownership and co-ownership of the Municipality of Ratiboř as of 12/31/2021 totaled 181.37 ha.
The year-on-year increase in the area of the forest occurred thanks to purchases of forest land by the municipality. The plots are located in the cadastral territory of Ratiboř and Růžďka. Forest management plan (LHP) and Forest Economic Outline (LHO)
The forest lands that the municipality already owned before 2018 are arranged in the Forest Management Unit (LHC) of Ratiboř Municipal Forests, for which a Forest Management Plan was drawn up, determining management for ten years. It was approved by the KÚ of the Zlín Region on 24/04/2018 with validity for the period from 1/01/2018 to 31/12/2027.
This plan determines binding management indicators, namely the maximum extraction amount of 15,064 m³ and the minimum surface area educational interventions in stands up to 40 years of age in the amount of 91.47 ha during the ten-year period of validity of the plan. 2021 was the fourth year of this ten-year plan. Forest land in which the municipality has a co-ownership share, and those forest land that the municipality purchased in 2018 and in the following years, are regulated by the Forest Management Plan within the Vsetín district. These LHOs are also drawn up for a ten-year period and were approved for the period from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2029. During the creation of a new economic plan in 2027, these forest plots will then be incorporated into the Forest Economic Complex of Municipal Forests Ratiboř. In this situation, the municipality is obliged to keep double forest management records, for each forest unit separately. Mining activity Mining activity in 2021 was carried out by contractors, by local entrepreneurs. A total of 717 m³ of wood was harvested at LHC Obecní lesy Ratiboř, and 296 m³ was harvested in forests arranged for LHO. The total extraction in 2021 therefore amounted to 1,013 m³.
Of this amount, 27% was wood from intentional logging, 57% was bark-infested wood, and 16% was from other accidental logging (fractures, upheavals). From the ten-year mining plan of 15,064 m³ at LHC Obecní lesy Ratiboř, 14,244 m³ was mined as of 12/31/2021, which is 94.5% of the maximum amount. 1,101 m³ of firewood were dispatched, of which the municipality's own consumption was 27 m³ of firewood. The balance of firewood in stock as of 12/31/2021 was 92 m³. Firewood sales reached the amount of CZK 1,667,535.56 and the average selling price of 1 m³ of firewood of all assortments was CZK 1,514.56/m³ without VAT. Cultivation activity Cultivation was carried out by contractors, municipal employees and, to a small extent, by local citizens as well.
Afforestation of new clearings was carried out on an area of 6.02 ha with the following trees: Cultivation improvement (planting of dead seedlings on clearings created in previous years) was carried out on reduced area of 5.06 ha, namely: In 2021, afforestation reached historical values in terms of the number of seedlings planted, and it can be stated that the calamitous clearings that occurred in previous years have almost succeeded in being reforested.
Educational interventions Educational interventions in young forest stands on part of the property arranged in LHC Obecní lesy Ratiboř have been carried out during the last four years, i.e. since the beginning of the validity of LHP, only on an area of 17.17 ha, which represents 18% of the minimum volume of the plan. No educational intervention has yet been carried out on the part of the property equipped at the LHO, only partial performances, preceding the intervention itself.
Educational interventions in young forest stands are a binding indicator of the plan for the municipality, therefore there is a need to intensify their implementation.
Protection of crops against game Protecting crops against wild animals consisting only of coating or spraying leafy plantings with repellants is not only labor-intensive and materially costly, and therefore also expensive, but also not very effective. The construction of fences, currently subsidized by the state, is therefore much more economically advantageous for forest owners.
That is why another 2,230 m of fencing was built, supported by the SZIF grant, the MZe grant, part of the fencing was built by the municipality at its own expense, mainly with the use of mesh that has already been used once. Protection against insect pests Protection against insect pests consisted in the installation of control pheromone traps for the spruce weevil in the number of 10 pcs. The effectiveness of pheromone traps appears to be low in the current situation. Drawing subsidies Bringing firewood, afforestation with melioration trees and nurturing young forest stands was partly supported by subsidies from the Ministry of Agriculture's funds, in the amount of 429,807 CZK. The construction of fences was partly supported by subsidies from SZIF in the amount of CZK 111,350.
