A look back at the grand opening of the covered fire pit.
On Wednesday, November 5, we gathered at the YMCA campground to celebrate the grand opening of the new covered fire pit. After much planning, hours of work, and joint efforts, we finally reached the moment when the ribbon was cut and the first communal fire blazed in the fire pit.
The children from the Kosáček ensemble set the festive mood at the beginning. This was followed by an opening speech and then a performance by Mayor Martin Žabčík, who accepted our invitation and symbolically cut the ribbon to open a place where people can meet and share time together.
Visitors could try their hand at pressing fresh cider, with the younger participants in particular throwing themselves into it with great enthusiasm. The homemade Wallachian frgály cakes baked by us, the members of the Plamínci group, were the perfect accompaniment to the delicious drink. Our entire journey from the first kick to the final touches was captured in a wall photo gallery, which gave everyone the opportunity to go through our project step by step.
A big thank you goes to the Kosáček dance ensemble for their participation, and especially to Mayor Martin Žabčík for his support, willingness, and trust in our project. We would also like to thank the entire village of Ratiboř, which provided us with enormous help—financial, material, and organizational. Thanks to them, the idea of a communal fire pit could become a reality.
The European Solidarity Corps also played an important role by providing financial support for the project and enabling us, the Plamínci group, to carry out our project "Sit by the Common Fire."
We would like to thank everyone who came, supported us, and shared in the joy of the new space. Your presence gave the fire pit its true meaning.
However, our journey together is not over yet. We cordially invite you to a Christmas punch-making competition, which will take place on December 5 at the new fire pit. We are preparing more detailed information and will announce it soon. We look forward to more moments at the YMCA campsite and believe that the new fire pit will be a place for relaxation, gatherings, and many pleasant moments.
