However, a change to the Education Act during August clearly established the rules for distance learning.

I am very happy that the teaching staff, headed by the headmistress Mgr. Milada Valová took the preparation for the possible closure of the school due to the epidemic during the autumn very responsibly. With the great contribution and help of Mgr. Vladislav Val, Ing. Jiří Růžička and Ing. Štěpán Janíček, the internet network in the primary school building was upgraded, suitable programs for online teaching via computers or smartphones were selected and the cantors were trained. In September, parents were introduced to the method of distance learning and each pupil received access data to the system.

The children did not enjoy school for long, and the second wave of the epidemic arrived and with it the closure of schools. Our teaching staff activated online distance learning within three days, and every morning teachers began to appear on the laptop screens in the kitchens and children's rooms of all pupils from all grades of the Ratibor school.

Having two pupils at home attending the first and fifth year of our school, I can say from personal experience that the children were really sitting in their desks in the morning, even if it was only virtually. Parents also started to participate more in the lessons and had to learn how to use computer technology and programs. It was certainly challenging for everyone, but I am convinced that everything was managed to an excellent standard and the new technologies and programmes, in which considerable sums of money have been invested, will be used by the school to a large extent in regular teaching.
