On Saturday, September 5, 2026, we had the opportunity to represent Ratiboř at the E.ON Ecofestival in České Budějovice...
As one of the five finalists of the 18th year of the E.ON Energy Globe competition, our municipality made it to the finals among the best projects from the entire Czech Republic. Out of a record 289 submitted projects, the expert jury selected five finalists, and among them was Ratiboř sustainable.
We had our own stand at the festival, where we presented to visitors what has been achieved in Ratiboř in the field of sustainability in recent years. We talked mainly about photovoltaics and energy savings, rainwater retention, retention tanks, the Kobelná pool, waste sorting, landscape care and other projects. It was pleasant to see how many people stopped by our stand and were interested in how similar measures can be implemented in an ordinary village.
But the E.ON Ecofestival was not just about ecology. It offered a rich program for all generations, workshops, lectures, music and a pleasant atmosphere. The culmination of the whole day was the evening announcement of the winner of the competition. The main prize and a prize of CZK 500,000 was won by the Farm School, which focuses on educating a new generation of farmers and the future of the Czech landscape.
Although Ratiboř did not win the main prize, I consider the progress among the five finalists to be a great success. It is an appreciation of the long-term work of the entire municipality and a confirmation that even a small village from Wallachia can attract the attention of the whole country with its projects.
Thank you to everyone who supported us in the competition, voted for Ratiboř and helped us present its story to the public.
From České Budějovice, we took away inspiration, new contacts and a good feeling that Ratiboř has something to offer and show beyond the borders of our region.
