Article title

An action plan aimed at mitigating the effects of urban heat islands was presented to the public and subsequently approved by the municipal council

On March 17, 2026, the Action Plan for Addressing the Impacts of Urban Heat Islands in the Municipality of Ratiboř was first presented to the public, thereby creating an opportunity for citizens and stakeholders to familiarize themselves with its content and objectives, as well as offering a forum for discussion on the topics and specific proposed measures. The meeting also contributed to strengthening cooperation between the municipality, experts, and other partners involved in the project. Subsequently, this document was officially approved by the municipal council.

The draft action plan was developed in collaboration between the Ratiboř municipal project team and expert partners and reflected the methodological guidelines of the Interreg Danube Region Programme. During its preparation, the document was consulted with relevant stakeholders and experts, whose input contributed to its refinement and final form.

The presentation of the outputs and subsequent communication with the public also included an introduction to the municipality’s newly launched service—the AI Mayor. This digital tool serves as a modern communication platform that allows citizens to easily obtain information about the BE READY project, planned measures, and other municipal activities in the area of climate change adaptation. The AI Mayor helps raise awareness among the general public and encourages active citizen participation in the planned steps.

The action plan defines several main objectives aimed at increasing the municipality’s resilience to the impacts of climate change, particularly regarding the overheating of built-up areas. Proposed measures include, for example, support for green infrastructure, improvements in rainwater management, and modifications to public spaces to reduce heat stress.

The approval of this document represents an important milestone in the municipality of Ratiboř’s participation in the BE READY project and confirms its active approach to climate change adaptation and sustainable development.
